A number of Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) students recently travelled to Smithers to compete in various events at the Northern Zone Championships.

Nineteen year old local resident Allie Dickson is competing in three events this week at the Canada Winter Games held in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Octane Addictions riders, Dane Ferguson and brothers Kourtney and Whitney Hungerford are set to burn up the local track this month at the annual Cold Smoke event held by the Burns Lake Snowmobile Club.

Vanderhoof hosted the Stride and Glide Biathlon B.C. Cup on Jan. 22 to 23, where kids as far as the Kootenays turned up to take part.

The Burns Lake Braves travelled to Williams Lake last weekend for the second and deciding game in the three game playoff series against the Stampeders. After losing the first playoff game 6-5 to the Stampeders, the Braves were out to settle the score, however it was not to be.

This year's cold smoke drags are set to be the best in the region according to the Burns Lake Snowmobile Club's organizers.

The playoffs started as they did last year with the Braves matched up against the Williams Lake Stampeders.
