August 16, 1964 - May 12, 2022
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
But I always thought that I'd see you again.
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line,
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.
Loving father and beloved brother, Scott Hawse left us suddenly on 12 May 2022 in Kelowna BC in the midst of shenanigans of working on cars, watching the hockey games, fishing, and discussing world affairs with Glen; planning an adventure; and looking to shared times ahead.
Scott was born in Burns Lake on 16 August 1964 to Dale Hawse (Vernon, BC) and Elizabeth (née Tedesco, Edinburgh, Scotland) and grew up in Tintagel. He graduated from LDSS in 1983.
Scott worked with his father Dale and brother Ian at The Barn and later at his own shop, 20:20 Vision, where he sold and repaired electronics. Following in the political footsteps of his Uncle Neville (Pat) Duke from Lumby BC, Scott became the then youngest Alderman in Canada for the Village of Burns Lake.
Fiercely loyal, deeply generous, and abundantly curious, Scott was an accomplished chess player and tournament winner, keen fisherman, and electronics repairman, which he learned from his father.
At The Barn he installed satellite dishes and car sound systems. Scott inherited his father's love of music so there was always a tune playing in the background. He travelled to Europe, USA, Mexico, and was influenced by his backpacking and food tasting adventures through Eastern Europe and Yugoslavia, and a USA road trip with school mates.
Scott carried forward his mother's interest in collectables and travel. He shared with his daughter Isabella his love of chess and passed on to her the batons of curiosity and world travel. Special memories with Isabella were sharing a passion for food by picking apples to make applesauce, and of teaching her to drive.
In 2007 Scott moved to Grand Prairie and then to Kelowna to keep close with family and historical links to the Okanagan, where he enjoyed living in a plum orchard, working in electronics, and helping with car repairs. He was proud that his Great Grandfather Napoleon (Paul) Bessette and Josephine (née LeBlanc) who had migrated from Quebec, were Lumby pioneers.
He is survived by his cherished daughter Isabella (Prince George, BC), and siblings Ian (Kelowna, BC), Sally (Sydney, Australia), Glen (West Kelowna, BC) and many nieces and nephews. Miss you to the moon and back.
A remembrance will be held in Tintagel in late 2023.
