Nelson James Harrison was born in Burns Lake, graduated from LDSS in 1968. He received his B.Sc. (Forestry Science) in 1974 from UBC and was a career Forester with the BC Forest Service until retirement; he moved from Nanaimo to Tchesinkut Lake to assist his aging parents, Alice and Alford.
Upon their passing in 2006 he took up walking as his main physical activity covering thousands of kilometers over the past fifteen years.
He found enjoyment on the local golf courses and appreciated the fellowship of the A and W coffee group. He was an avid reader and had a keen interest in politics and hockey, having been a hockey player in his youth.
Survived by sister, June, of New Westminster, brother, Ron, and sister-in-law, Nadine, of Burns Lake. He was Uncle Nelson to: Tanya Harrison, Darren and Eli Moorehouse, Erica and Sarkis Hajian, Megan Gilgan; Jacques and Lucien Fruchet, Melanie, Shanna, Rachel, Collin and David Fehr, Alexander Thom; Chrissy, Coleman, Myles and Amaris Shepherd
Darron, Eva, Noni and Rueben Harrison.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held later this summer.
