Leo passed away in the Oliver hospital on July 16, 2003 due to complications from diabetes. He was born at Cold Lake, Alberta on June 28, 1920. Leo married Thelma Wells July 7, 1947. They moved to Decker Lake in 1948 where they resided for seven years. In 1955 they moved to Palling where Leo built two different homes. The last one was by the John Baker airport. They lived there for 32 years. Throughout Leo’s years in Decker Lake and Palling he worked as a sawyer in the lumber mills in the area and later owned a sawmill of his own. Leo and Thelma raised three foster children: Rhoda, Delorous and David Wells. Some years after retirement they moved to Enderby in 1987 and resided there for two years. It was still too cold for Leo at Enderby so they moved farther south and bought a house in Oliver, where they lived for 13 years. Thelma passed away on January 31, 2001. Leo is survived by one stepson Albert (Shirley) Wells of Wonam, Alberta, three foster children Rhoda Wells (Dan Burnett) of Terrace, David (Winnie) Wells of Terrace, Delorous (Willie) Tom of Palling. One sister Olive (Verge) York of Campbell River, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At Leo’s request no public service was conducted in his memory.
