The Lakes District Arts Council hosted a fundraising event last weekend at the Root Cellar on Highway 16. The event was held for the benefit of the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual Burns Lake Relay for Life. The North of Dixie Jazz Band, from Smithers donated their time to perform toe tappin' music straight from New Orleans. Local musician Marcel Plasway donated his time to perform a number of songs played on both the piano and the guitar.
