February 1, 1945 - June 13, 2022
Ken passed away peacefully on June 13th surrounded by family. He was greatly loved by anyone that knew him.
He was born February 1st in Burns Lake to Alexandria Wilejto and Gus Flogum. Ken lived his entire life here in the Lakes District and was a devoted husband and father. After high school, Ken worked two summers fighting fires for the BC forest service, and with several mills before working as an accountant for Eurocan. Ken was married to Nancy on September 13th, 1969. They raised two sons, Dave and Steve while living on Tchesinkut Lake. Ken put in 25 years working for the Ministry of Transportation on the Francois Lake ferry.
Ken loved hockey, baseball, fishing, playing cards, horseshoes, and spending time outside. Ken had a fondness for Johnny Cash, historical pioneer books, a Clint Eastwood western, and a good joke. Ken had a soft spot for animals, spending countless hours playing fetch or sharing his lap with the family pet. Ken was a very analytical thinker with a quick wit and could easily be described as the strong silent type. He cared deeply for his wife and two sons and devoted many years to supporting his wife through multiple bouts with cancer and both boys through many years of hockey travels around the province and beyond. Known to his kids as "Mr. Perfect" for his knack to be good at any task or game. He was a very good athlete in his younger days before he suffered a bad back injury, prior to which he played fast pitch with the Old
Stylers and hockey around the area. He knew the Lakes District area up and down and loved this beautiful place we call home. Respected by his peers and adored by his family, he had a profound impact on those close to his heart. This earth is a lesser place without you dad, but heaven has gained a "dandy". He was a loyal and loving man and will be greatly missed. Rest easy Dad.
Ken is predeceased by his parents, and brothers Harold and Victor. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Dave (Brenna) and Steve (Rese), and his grandchildren Natalie, Blake, Haven, and Rio. Ken is also survived by his sisters Stevie and Mary (Lou), and sister in law Judy.
A celebration of life will be announced sometime in August.
