May 5, 1933 - October 7, 2004
Dave resided at Tchesinkut Lake most of his life. In 1963 when Dave married Jeanne he took on a ready-made family, Dave’s ready-made family came with four stepchildren (Jim, John, Mel and Sandra) which were raised and loved as though they were Dave’s very own. Dave’s family eventually expanded by two more boys with the birth of Ken and then Steve. Dave really enjoyed having kids around and at Christmas time he loved to watch his grown kids as well as his grandchildren opening their presents. Dave’s love of children was evident with his yearly donation to the BC Children’s Hospital.
In his young years he played baseball and hockey. When Dave stopped playing his own sports, he coached his son Steve’s hockey and lacrosse teams and later sponsored a Tchesinkut Lake slow-pitch baseball team. Dave also served on the Tshesinkut Lake Recreation Commission and on the BC Independent Loggers Association.
Dave worked most of his life in the Lakes District. He spent many, many years working in the logging industry. He hauled logs in the Lakes District as well as in Meziadin, Stewart and Terrace areas. He hauled machinery and lumber to just about anywhere in BC. He also drove truck for a stint with Canadian Propane.
Dave had a great love for the outdoors. Fishing and hunting with family and friends were some of Dave’s favorite times. Endless memories are held in our hearts of family camping trips, hunting trips, logging ride-alongs and family gatherings.
Dave was, and always will be, deeply admired and loved by his family. The only thing that helps us to say good-bye is that we know Dave is no longer in pain and is once again with his dog Buddy who he truly missed. Good-bye Dad, Grandpa, Dave we will miss you greatly and admire you always.
