In Loving Memory ~
February 13, 1941 the world was gifted with the birth of Julia Alice Meyer, to parents Barsha and Austin Sprague. Julia was raised in Greencastle, Indiana, along with her younger brother Charles, who was her best friend throughout her adult years.
In the early '70's, living in California and shortly after she'd gained her teaching degree, Julia joined the Berkeley Psychic Institute and became a Spiritual Counselor, Intuitive Reader and an Ordained Minister. It was also at this time that she, her brother Charles and some like minded friends, left the rat race of the U.S. to homestead property within the beautiful Nass region here in BC.
In the late '70's, Julia met and married the love of her life, John Meyer. They lived on the shores of Ootsa Lake while they built their home at Cheslatta. Once settled in, Julia started teaching at Grassy Plains school.
Although Julia didn't have children of her own, she was instrumental in helping many young people with their education; teaching them, individually guiding, or even helping financially, enriching them with knowledge for a stronger foundation meeting life.
She was an accomplished artist delighting in creating visuals as bright and colorful as she was, often taking her inspiration from her magnificent garden. She loved giving away young perennials, sprinkling the entire District with her 'Julia kids'. Julia's personality seeded joy among so many.
Julia was a gifted Energy Healer and gave many healings. She was also a volunteer hospice worker and held the hands of several, easing them into the afterworld, while they made their transition.
On January 12, 2022, we lost a vibrant, shining light, when Julia finally gave up her fight against the cruelties of Alzheimer's. Her divine spirit is such we will continue to feel her presence in our lives as we enjoy the magic of sunsets, the beauty of a flower in bloom and most of all, when we recall the memory of her smile and hearty laughter. She was an absolute treasure and we will miss her dearly. She enriched us all with her sparkling personality, kindness and joy.
Julia's motto in life was always, 'meet your challenges with humor, it's humor that will get you through'.
Bless you Julia, we'll see you again, just little further on down the road.
