October 10, 1946 - October 27, 2020
On October 27, 2020 at the age of 74 we lost our father. John was a generous father to Laurel and Aron, and a loving grandfather to Sarah.
John was born in Carrot River, Sask to Aron and Olga Derksen. He had four brothers, Cornelius, Abe, Jake and Peter, of those Jake is still living. He had five sisters; Mary, Teena, Olga, Marge and Agnes of those Marge and Agnes are still living.
John was a very talented woodworker, always creating new projects to sell or give away as gifts. His working life was spent in the bush running equipment or building roads. He built the house he lived in until the end of his life. Anyone who knew John knew he had his struggles in life but always tried to stay positive. He was generous and was proud of his kids and grandchild. He was the favorite uncle in the family and always had an amusing story to tell, usually with a healthy dose of B.S.
We will miss him.
