In loving memory ~
Richmond was born in Windsor, Ontario. He grew up in Colleymount, Burns Lake, as a young boy with his family on the farm. He was married to Janie Virginia Cowan (Roe). Janie and Richmond lived in Vancouver, Spences Bridge, Cache Creek, and Kamloops before returning to Burns Lake in the 1980s. Here, he built the family home near Tchesinkut Lake.
He worked as a driver for Greyhound Canada for 35+/- years, including sharpening skates around BC. He enjoyed carpentry and working with/on machinery. He always had a friendly smile and hello for everyone, also known for his witty sense of humour. He spent his last couple of years of life living at the Tweedsmuir house in Burns Lake. He was tickled on an outing to the museum that housed the old farm equipment from his childhood farm. He enjoyed his daily walks, having visitors, his greenhouse, activities, and teasing all of the staff at Tweedsmuir House, whom he talked fondly of and appreciated.
Richmond was predeceased by his wife, Janie Virginia Cowan (Roe), in 2014; children: William (Tony) Cowan in 2003; Virginia Jane (Ginny) Anderson (Cowan) in 2005; Hughie Cowan in 2012; and Fred Cowan in 2022. Also by his parents, Hugh Stewart Cowan and Sarah Baird Murray Cowan. All of his siblings, Stewart Cowan, Thomas Cowan, Hugh Cowan, and sister Margaret Hickey. Survived by and missing him are his son Richie Cowan (Marah), and daughters Cheri Clarke (David), and Cindy Lindaas (Glenn). Many in-laws, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
