Jake was born in Hague, Saskatchewan on January 20, 1926. He was the youngest of ten children, raised on a farm with a Mennonite background.
Jake married Agnes Martens on June 29, 1952. They moved to Burns Lake in November 1952 but went back again to try farming in Saskatchewan.
Due to health reasons, he couldn’t stay on the farm. In 1963 they settled permanently in Burns Lake. God blessed Jake and Agnes with four sons; Corney (1954), Peter (1958), Tom (1960), Paul (1964).
Jake did various jobs over the years from farming, mill worker, butcher, delivery man, janitor, and hospital maintenance. Jake enjoyed the outdoors; and rain or shine, or 40 below, he was always thankful to God for the weather He was giving us. Jake was ready to meet his Lord and showed that by the life he lived.
Jake was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters leaving two brothers to mourn his absence. He will be sadly missed by his wife Agnes, his four sons and their wives, and thirteen grandchildren.
