"Welcome Home my Child, Welcome Home"
Our dad passed away peacefully the evening of November 19th at the age of 89. Dad was born in Cantour Saskatchewan to Peter and Sadie Funk. He was the oldest of six children, two brothers Ben and Len, and three sisters Lena, Olga and Leona. His family eventually made their way to the Fraser Valley in BC.
Dad met and married our mom in Oliver B.C. on October 21, 1951. They spent most of their married lives in the Burns Lake area. They lived in Grassy Plains and that is where us kids were raised. Dad worked for the Department of Highways until his retirement at the age of 56. Dad and mom raised ten children and each day dad went to work to provide for us. No easy task when there were 10 hungry faces around the dinner table. Thank you, dad.
Dad you are missed and loved by your children, John, Ken (Kathy), Kathy (Clay), Jim (Gail), Bonnie (Glen), Bev (Dwight), Bruce (Donna), Brian (Doris), Loren, Gail (Mark). Your grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, who loved and adored their grandpa. Many of dad's grandchildren were able to send messages or call dad throughout the day of his passing. What a blessing, thanks to Sharla who spent the day with grandpa and made this possible.
Dad was predeceased by our mom, our sister Diane and his second wife Gwen.
Our family thanks the caregivers that came into dads' home, the staff and caregivers at Tweedmuir House, and the hospital staff. Each of you went over and above in your care for dad.
To Ken & Kathy, Gail & Mark, who provided the much-needed day to day love and support for dad. THANK YOU from your siblings.
To all dads extended family and friends, thanks for your friendship and love over the years.
There will not be a service because of the times we live in right now.
