We regret to announce the passing of Gerald Robert Phipps of Evelyn, Smithers, BC, after a brief illness at home.
Bob recently retired from the BC Forest Service, where he served as an RPF in the Bulkley, Lakes, Dawson Creek & Kispiox Districts. Prior to the BC service, he served for the Alberta Forest Service out of Edmonton Parks Canada and the western region as well as the Canadian Forest Service in Fredericton, NB.
He obtained his degree from the University of Alberta in 1983 and graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1978.
Bob will be remembered for his winning smile and his bulldog tenacity. He loved the Bulkley Valley at first sight and always felt at home on the river, be it the Nashwaak, Miramichi, the Tay, Athabasca, Morice, the Peace, Telkwa, Bulkley or Kispiox.
Bob is survived by his wife Kathleen (Dalton) Phipps of Smithers BC, his sisters Cheri Lavigne, Kelly Harris, Lori Best and Tammi Brewer of NB. Also, his Aunt Dorothy (Howard) Mckay and Doreen (Maurice) Savage of NB. He will be missed by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He will be met by his predeceased mom and dad, Gerald Arlington & Arlene Marjorie (Savage) Phipps. May their reunion be joyous. His grandparents Bill and Stella Phipps and Lloyd and Rena Savage will provide music and refreshments and love, lots of love.
