Dec. 4, 1924 - August 9, 2003
Frances May Nordquist (nee Neighbor), born on December 4, 1924 passed away in Kelowna General Hospital on the evening of August 9, 2003. She is survived by her family: husband Ernest of 48 years; son Daniel (Ivy); daughters: Lisa (Bryan) Thompson, Jane (Mike Lee), Karla (Larry Newman) and three grandchildren: Dara-Lynn Nord-quist and Jesse and Kenya Thompson all of Kelowna, B.C.
Fran was a petite woman with an abundance of energy and love that infused not only her family but all of her friends with a special zest for life. She was a genuine, “down to earth” person who generously extended her hospitality and friendship to others. Fran understood that storytelling is at the heart of history and family legacies. We will always treasure the stories of her family’s life in the early days of Jasper National Park and the tales of her adventures as one of the first Public Health Nurses in Northern B.C.
A celebration of her remarkable life and exceptional spirit was held on Friday, August 15 in the Westbank United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Interior Cancer Centre, 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3. To send a condolence to the family, visit www.firstmemorialkelown.com.
