Crews battle fire east of Tchesinkut Lake

Smoke may be visible from Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 35

B.C. Wildfire Service crews are currently battling a wildfire east of Tchesinkut Lake, near Haney Lake.

Discovered on Wednesday June 28, the fire is currently considered ‘out of control’ and has consumed five hectares. Smoke may be visible from Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 35.

According to Olivia Pojar, information officer for the Northwest Fire Centre, there are currently 22 firefighters assigned to this fire, being supported by a helicopter bucketing water.
