Business as usual for the Burns Lake Band

Burns Lake Band Chief Albert Gerow said to Lakes District News that it was out of frustration that he threw the petition presented to him by 25 band members in the garbage.

The Burns Lake Band’s Gathering Place has been a site of political unrest over the past week as past chief and council as well as band elders attempt to remove current Chief Albert Gerow and councillors Dan George and Wes Sam from power.

Burns Lake Band Chief Albert Gerow said to Lakes District News that it was out of frustration that he threw the petition presented to him by 25 band members in the garbage.

As reported in the Lakes District News edition of Feb. 16, 2011 a petition signed by Burns Lake Band elders, former Chief Robert Charlie and former Coun. Ryan Tibbetts as well as on reserve band members was presented to Chief Gerow and Coun.
